Day 181, Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Simeon was scootching forward on the
airplane (that has no wheels) while
pulling the toy wheelbarrow.
He is often inside a baby swing,
or a Little Tikes car--
squished all together!!
Silly kid!

I took a video of this one!

Day 180, Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Mahree was able to go to a Girl Scout
day camp with Stephanie at Ada Park
from 9-3 today! They had so
much fun!
Mahree is now signed up to be a
member of a Girl Scout group!

Day 179, Monday, June 28, 2010

Spencer enjoys playing the PS2
in the afternoons during quiet time.

He usually plays a Sponge Bob game!

Day 178, Sunday, June 27, 2010

Beautiful sky--imagining what it
will look like when Jesus returns!

Day 177, Saturday, June 26, 2010

I wanted to get a pose with the 6 full sibs!
They were, for once, willing participants!
Note the sprinkler to Simeon's right!
They absolutely love playing in the
sprinklers!  On this day they were
also wearing sand pails, like Merica
has on her head!!

I really liked how Meika and
Sammy were looking at each other!
Mahree looked pretty casual,
and Spencer was ready to
use the squirt gun thingee!

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Day 176, Friday, June 25, 2010

Simeon is convinced he can still
fit in the Little Tikes car!
Silly boy!

Day 175, Thursday, June 24, 2010

The special needs dance group, God's Girls, from
Hearts in Step Christian Dance, danced
at an event at a restaurant in Rockford tonight.
Rosie had to work, and Louisa couldn't
be there, but the other 9 were there.

They wore the shirts they made during
breaks on recital day!

They had a good time--while Mahree
had her first two classes (of 6 weeks) of BMJ
and Ballet!

Day 174, Wednesday, June 23, 2010

While Kaitie had her piano lesson,
we took the kids to VI Pets  to see
the critters.

We also had to buy
crickets, supplies, and two fish!
Simeon was fascinated by all the
fish tanks, and liked
petting the puppies, too!

Mahree wants a puppy now!!

Day 173, Tuesday, June 22, 2010

We worked on our project notebooks in 4H today!
Elijah worked on a explorer rabbit book, Merica worked
on an Explorer cavy book.
Kaitie did a senior rabbit book, and Mahree
did both rabbit and a cavy book.

Day 172, Monday, June 21, 2010

We had a wonderful visit
with the Wall Family
who live in Arizona!
It was their youngest's,
Naomi, 6th birthday.

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Day 171, Sunday, June 20, 2010

Everyday Bonnie and Kaite faithfully
take care of the
pets in the pet room.
Mahree takes care of her
lizard and bunny as well.

This summer both Mahree and Merica
are learning how to
take care of all the cavies!

Day 170, Saturday, June 19, 2010

Usually every other weekend, 3 of my adult children who live in group homes, come home to visit each other--and us!  Timothy sleeps on the sleeper sofa in the living room, while Kara and Shonda share Kaitie's room--which also has a sleeper sofa!

Timothy was settling down for a good night's sleep, when I interrupted him to take his picture!  He  is eager to see himself on my computer in the morning!!

This morning Cheryl and I took the 4 youngest kids to see Toy Story 3--something they have been looking forward to--thanks to all the media hype!  It was a fun movie, and we all enjoyed ourselves!!

Day 169, Friday, June 18, 2010

Cheryl and I are reading thru the Bible in a year again, mostly while we're driving to/from Ann Arbor.  I have the Bible Experience on CDs; it's the complete Bible in Today's New International Version.  I follow along in the NIV, and mention to Cheryl (since she is the driver), when the TNIV varies from the NIV, as in that version they have taken some liberties (ie, men-to people).
The Bible is read word for word, and the different characters are read by different people, as well as a narrator. There is music and appropriate background sounds.  Fun for us is that all of the "cast" are African American folks.  This has proven to be very interesting to my children as well!  They will often ask me to "put the Bible on, Mom!"  I gladly comply.  Even 4 year old Sammy will ask me why something happened the way it did in Bible times!

The passage I took a picture of today, really hit me as an awesome prayer--Nehemiah 9:5-38.

Day 168, Thursday, June 17, 2010

Cheryl is busy paying bills
in our hotel room, while
I updated my Carepage.
(Carepages.com  under MargeLJones)

We decided to stay over in
Ann Arbor, since my appt
yesterday was in the late
afternoon, and my two appts
tomorrow are early morning.
So thankful that Bonnie & MaryBeth,
as well as Connie & fam with
help from Rosie & Kaitie
could hold down the fort
in our absence.

We went to see a movie last
evening--first movie in a year or two
that wasn't animated!

We saw "Letters to Juliet" and
it was the cleanest movie we
have seen in a long long time.
Enjoyed!

Day 167, Wednesday, June 16, 2010

After attending CSI at Calvary,
Mahree, Merica, and friend, Stephanie,
went to VBS at Forest Hills
Presbyterian Church--
it was crazy hair day today!!
Tomorrow is the last day for
both VBS programs.

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Day 166, Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Mahree and Stephanie at Stephanie's church's VBS
It was Hat Day!

                   Bonnie & Sammy leaving our church's VBS--CSI!
Bonnie, Rosie, & Kaitie are helpers--
Sammy just came along to pick them up!

Ozzie was groomed today--
they "nicked" him--he
needed to go to the vet,
be sedated, and stitched!!

Sammy posed in front of the
Fair Office--we had to turn
in our paperwork today
for the Youth Fair to be
held the 2nd full week
of August, 2010!

Day 165, Monday, Junes 14, 2010

Not the best photo, but
it shows that we have had
some Baltimore Orioles at
our bird feeder!

They're very flighty, and
the least movement in the
house--real or perceived--
causes them to fly off!

We've seen hummingbirds
a few times, too!

Monday, June 14, 2010

Day 164, Sunday, June 13, 2010

Spencer and Sammy wanted to
take a bath in my Jacuzzi!
They put soap in the tub, and
turned on the jets--
I thought Sammy would disappear!!

Today we also brought our 4 foster
kittens to Petsmart, in hopes they
will find a family to love!

The best part of the day was
the awesome worship service!
We're going to be studying
Proverbs this summer--so
looking forward to it!

Day 163, Saturday, June 12, 2010

Today was Harold  Heemstra's funeral
at Fulton Manor Nursing Home.
He was 90 years old, and died last Wed.

His daughters, Joanell, Mary, and Kristin
are pictured above.
These girls have meant much to me
throughout my life.
Mary was the first baby I really
fell in love with, and I took care of
her nearly everyday--
including being with her
in the hospital daily when she
accidentally swallowed Draino.
Her Mom, Joanne, had a bad back
problem, and her Dad was out of state.

Mary was about 15 months old, and
I was SO worried about her.

One day a resident walked in, and
thought I was her mother--oh, but
he made my day!  I was about 15!!

I babysat for all 4 of the kids, but Mary, as the
baby, was the one that I took for walks
so her Mom could do her work!

I flew out to Iowa to attend Mary's
wedding to Barry Nikkel, and later,
when they moved to Indiana,
Mary came up to GR, and I took care of
her little girls, Ann Marie & Susan.
Rosie is in between them in age.

I saw them today, too, and they remembered
me--and Rosie!

Six years ago their brother, Michael,
died suddenly, and 3 years ago their Mom,
Joanne, died.
Been a rough time for these ladies.

Day 162, Friday, June 11, 2010

Our hot water heater went out.
We called the nice people at Mich Con,
and they came out, and said it
would automatically restart.
It didn't, and we wondered
why he left before he checked
to be sure it was working.

I was nervous about Cheryl
restarting it without their help,
so I took a picture of the
restarting instructions to
show her.

She did it just fine.
Nothing and no one
exploded!

Day 161, Thursday, June 10, 2010

We tie dyed tee-shirts in 4H today,
and it really was fun!  Here
are various pics!

Day 160, Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Mahree is concerned that she will have a tough
time in recorder class next year.  She asked if
she could take recorder lessons this summer.

Mrs. Beason, who is Kaitie's piano teacher, said
she would be glad to teach Mahree!  So, every
Wednesday we are scheduled to have lessons
at the Homeschool Building at 10:30 & 11:00.

Day 159, Tuesday, June 8, 2010

We visited the Pet Store today,

and all of us were fascinated
by the dogs in their
Doggie Day Care.

In this photo Bonnie, Merica,
Sammy, Kaitie,
with Cheryl in the foreground,
 are watching!

Day 158, Monday, June 7, 2010

We were looking at Mahree's
baby album, and there were
several loose pictures in the back.

When Mahree saw this one, she
began to recite the Pledge to our flag!
she really looked as if she was
saying the pledge!

I remembered I had some appropriate
paper, and printed out the pledge--
voila!  a new scrapbook page!

Day 157, Sunday, June 6, 2010

Festival of the Arts 2010
Hearts in Step Christian Dance Academy
performed.

Two pictures from God's Girls' group
(5 of my daughters!) performance:

In the last photo my girls pose
with their first cousin three times removed
 (I think!),Christina Mulder,
who is my cousin's grand-daughter!

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Day 156, Saturday, June 5, 2010

Two pictures today!
Bonnie is home from the State Special Olympic Games
held in Mt.Pleasant, Michigan.
She got 1st, 2nd,and 3rd place medals in
her softball throw and 2 walking events!
Yay, Bonnie!!

Mahree and Stephanie went to
Bounce party today to celebrate
a classmate's birthday.
Mahree had a mouthful
of pizza when I said, "Smile!"

Day 155, Friday, June 4, 2010

Explain that again, Auntie!
Cheryl is the kids' math coach!!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Day 154, Thursday, June 3, 2010

We had to wait for Bonnie's bus to come to pick up the
athletes for the State Games.  We decided to visit
Meika and Cody in their classrooms!
We got to see both of them, and Jo Jo, too!
Cody laughed and laughed when he saw us!!

After we visited Cody & Meika,
We went to see Bonnie off
for the State Special Olympics held
at Central Michigan University in
Mt.Pleasant.

Before Bonnie got on the
bus, Merica got in one last hug!

Day 153, Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Once a month Anne Reynolds
puts a new battery in
Cody and Simeon's
Project Lifesaver bracelets.

We are so thankful for this
program that gives us a
bit more peace of mind,
that if one of the boys
wanders off, there
is another way to find them!

Day 152, Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Back row: Merica and Sammy
  Front row: Mahree and Spencer

The 4 youngest kids were giving
each other piggy back rides,
and just generally being
rowdy!  Since it was too
hot (they said) to play
outdoors, I let it go on
for a while!

My first child's birthday is today!
Happy 42nd Birthday, Rick!
