Day 59, Sunday, February 28, 2010

Cheryl and I drove down to Ann Arbor this afternoon, as I have two appointments at the University Hospital in the morning.

We like to listen to audio books as we drive.  Today we listened to the true story of Olaudah Equilano.  He was kidnapped from his home in Africa when he was 10 and sold into slavery in the mid 1700's.  He had some terrible experiences, but accepted Christ as his Savior, and trusted Him with his life.

Day 58, Saturday, February 27, 2010

Mahree took Rosie's dog, Ozzie, outside because Rosie is at work.

When Ozzie came in, he went to play with Meika,
who was quite delighted to take a break from
her puzzles to play with him!

Sadie is watching from the background--
probably wondering how she can get some of the action!

Day 57, Friday, February 26, 2010

Casting Crowns/Kutless/Caleb concert
GR First Assembly Church
sold out performance!

Alissa Ford got group tickets!
Her enthusiasm for the things of God is so inspirational!
Love that kid!
She's part of an incredibly neat family!  Her Mom
is pictured smiling at her!

Day 56, Thursday, February 25, 2010

Two pictures today!

Spencer was in the 2nd grade musical tonight.
In the first shot he is the child in the back row, left,
under the "w" of Grow!

After the performance, I took this shot of Spencer with
his make up on!  He was pretty wound up tonight!
He was a weed!

Day 55, Wednesday, February 24, 2010

Mahree has been "into" making menus, and taking our "orders"--oh, and our money!!  She gives us "change", which is our money back!!
She dictated the menu and I typed it for her.
She designed the menu cover,
and glued the pages into it.
It is called "Wow!"

Day 54, Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Kaitie walked past me wearing her blanket
that Bonnie gave her for her birthday,
and it just struck me funny to see her "double" face!!

Meika's at the table waiting for her bedtime snack.

Day 53, Monday, February 22, 2010

With the snow overnight,
Mahree's snow family of yesterday is nearly hidden.
The sled is under snow!

She is ready for school, and
is wearing Auntie's Crocks over her shoes.
She said, "we Browns can make amazing dinosaur feet!"
Only Mahree!!

Not sure how much snow we've had;
hard to tell with the heated pathways in the picture!

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Day 52, Sunday, February 21, 2010

We're under a winter storm warning!

Mahree is looking forward to more snow, and to welcome its arrival,
she made 4 regular snow people (2 visible here) and a dog.

The dog is in the foreground (see her legs?),
and she has placed a tennis ball in front of her,
so she can play!

Day 51, Saturday, February 20, 2010

It's Cody's 17th birthday today!
(Cody joined the family when he was 10 months old.)
His favorite gift was the preschool workbook
we found for him.
It's colorful and thick!!  He carried it all over.

Day 50, Friday, February 19, 2010

I couldn't decide which picture to use, so I thought I'd use both!
It was hat day at school today, and Merica, Spencer, and Mahree modeled their hats before leaving for school!  Spencer and Mahree go all day, and Merica is in afternoon kindergarten.

Day 49, Thursday, February 18, 2010

Sammy loves to be held on the couch--loves to cuddle--
I love to hold him, so it's a win-win situation!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Day 48, Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Simeon is "riding" his bus!!
He has been much more "with it" the last couple of weeks
--lots of talking and playing with toys!

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Day 47, Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Bonnie's birthday is today!
She has gifted some of her siblings with a photo blanket this year.
We decided to give her one, too!

Monday, February 15, 2010

Day 46, Monday, February 15, 2010

We had a fun visit with Noelle and  Candace!  They came for pizza.

We just had to get a group photo before they left, and before Mahree and Kaitie had to leave for ballet class.

Sunday, February 14, 2010

Day 45, Sunday, February 14, 2010

We carry on a Valentine Day tradition that began with Cheryl's childhood.  We all give valentines to each other.

This year Bonnie found cool mylar balloons at the Dollar Store, and got one for each child.  They were quite well rec'd!!

Saturday, February 13, 2010

Day 44, Saturday, February 13, 2010

During our 4H meeting, the littlest member of our Club really loves to sit by Sadie, and as you can see, Sadie relaxes and enjoys the time as well!

It was our monthly 4H meeting today.  Mrs. Terri came with her daughter, Danielle, and taught us how to make soap!  It was fun.

Day 43, Friday, February 12, 2010

Valentine Parties at school this afternoon!
I visited each of my 3 children's parties several times!

This is one of the games that I saw many rooms doing--the kids had to pick up the candy hearts with chopsticks!

Day 42, Thursday, February 11,2010

Spencer continues to have such a burden for the children in Haiti. He is quite concerned about the children who are orphans, and he really prays that someone will adopt them. Every time there is something on TV news about Haiti, no matter what he is doing, his ears perk up, and he wants to know what's happening.

He is concerned that the stronger people are getting the supplies and not the weaker, so he prays that the stronger ones will back off and "let weaker people get food, water, and shelter."
He's concerned about the upcoming possibility of 6 weeks of rain and the people who have no where to go to get out of the rain.
We talk about the doctors and nurses there and pray for them, too.
When Calvary's Kingdom Kids offered the opportunity for the children to give money to help the efforts in Haiti, Spencer immediately said he wanted to give his own money. When we got to church, we realized that he had his wallet with all of his money. He wanted to give it all. He was concerned, however, how Calvary was going to get his money to the children in Haiti!
Spencer is an example to me.  Mahree and Merica also used their own monies to donate for the Haitian relief, and I am so thankful for their giving spirit!

Day 41, Wednesday, February 10, 2010

We had a snow day today!  SO beautiful outside--crisp, fresh and sunny!

I took tons of photos of the kids playing outside, but before they got out to make their mark, I went out and took many pictures of the snow--untouched.
Thank you, God, for such a beautiful day!

Day 40, Tuesday, February 9, 2010

We're under a winter storm warning.  Don't think we'll get as much snow as they first thought, but the roads are very greasy, and the snow has been steady all evening.  The wind  has begun to blow the snow all over.  Tomorrow is count day at the schools.  If they stay open, do they risk having poor attendance, and thus risk their federal funding?

I had to choose between a picture of Mahree's "Nessy" made of snow or Kaitie's new glasses!  Guess I will get those another day.  Although the above picture isn't framed the way I would like, I like that you can see the snow coming down!

Monday, February 8, 2010

Day 39, Monday, February 8, 2010

Kaitie has two dance classes on Mondays.
Today is her 18th birthday!

Miss Kelly is the dance instructor for both her Ballet 11a class, pictured here,
and for the God's Girls group.

This week is "take a friend to dance" week,
and Kaitie's friend, Crystal, was able to come to both classes!

Day 38--Sunday, February 7, 2010

What to do when the Super Bowl is on?
Well, watch Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, of course!

It's one of Sammy's favorite DVDs--he sings the phrase, "Rudolph, da Red Nose Reindeer", over and over again--resisting all attempts to get him to move on to the next line!!

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 37-Saturday, February 6, 2010

We celebrated Shonda's 37th birthday today.

Bonnie gave her a blanket she had made

with Shonda's picture on it!  What fun!

From left, Rosie, Shonda, Bonnie,
Kara (hidden by the chair) and Spencer (partially hidden)

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 36--Friday, February 5, 2010

Kara and Shonda are home for their weekend visit.

Shonda's birthday is tomorrow--she'll be 37!  Hard to believe!
She keeps saying, "I can't wait for my birthday!"  8-)

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day 35--Thursday, February 4,2010

Both Merica and Sammy had some of my reading glasses on,
and wanted to look at the Bible story book!

Rosie is busy sorting through her clothes, after washing them--
her brother, DJ, helped her begin to organize her room yesterday!
